Participation - Our Twinning Project
The Silk Butterfly Twinning Project B’not Mitzvah participants offers the opportunity to share their Bar / Batmitzvah with a Holocaust child of a similar age. We provide each child with the name of a ‘twin’ along with a link to a website where the whole family can learn more about them.
Thereafter, participants are free to choose how they want to honour the memory of their respective ‘twin’.
We believe that the act of remembering will serve as a stepping stone along the B’not Mitzvah’s to journey through adulthood and inspire them to play a meaningful role in the Jewish community.
WAYS TO HONOUR THE MEMORY OF A B’NAI MITZVAH TWIN
• Asking the rabbi for permission to mention your twin while you are on the Bimah
• Planting a tree in the Children’s Forest in Israel in the name of the twin
• Performing a mitzvah in honour of a twin
• Incorporating the research regarding the twin in a project on the Holocaust
• Creating an art work or writing a poem in memory of a twin
• Mentioning the twin in a short paragraph in a Bar / Batmitzvah Speech.
